UTG A6 open raise
This is my first hand post so bear with me - the converter didn't work for Interpoker (Still clearing bonuses) so I did the best I could manually.
InterPoker: Texas Hold'em Limit ($1/$2) Hero is UTG with A6. Normaly I would fold A6 in early position, but I've had A LOT of success at this table stealing the blinds with an open raise from any position. So that's what I did. ----- HOLE CARDS ----- dealt to Hero [Ad 6h] Hero: raises $2 UTG+1: folds UTG+2: folds MP1: folds Beldar: folds MP2: raises $3 MP3: folds CO: folds Button: folds Hero: calls $1 ----- FLOP ----- [Ah Ac 3s] Hero: checks MP2: bets $1 Hero: calls $1 ----- TURN ----- [Ah Ac 3s][Qd] Hero: checks MP2: bets $2 Hero: raises $4 MP2: calls $2 ----- RIVER ----- [Ah Ac 3s Qd][Kd] Hero: bets $2 MP2: raises $4 Hero?? |

Re: UTG A6 open raise
Eh, I'm not a fan of the raise. The fact that you're stealing the blinds from open raises all over tells me that you should find another table.
If all the tables are like this and you're just clearing bonuses and they are *that* tight, then I don't really have much advice. I'd loosen up my raising requirements and maybe advertise a bit to try and get action, but probably not with A6o from UTG. I call the river raise without a read telling me that MP2 is without sanity. Re: UTG A6 open raise
Ok the UTG raise sucks with A6o. If the table is so tight that raising this will take down the blinds a good % of the time, you need to find a new table.
As for your postflop play.... Let's put the opponent on a range of hands here. Because the table is tight we will give him TT+, AQs+ and AKo. Knowing this, what does a turn check/raise do for us? If he has AK/AQ/QQ we are way behind and will get reraised. If he has KK or JJ he will probably fold. We are in a way ahead/behind spot here and the correct postflop strategy is to check/call-check/call-bet/call on the river. Brad |
