Who the hell is gonna want to start playing after that? They'll all be scared crapless. Man, that was just terrible.

I'm not sue if I want to hit the Borgata for my birthday and first B&M cash game later this month. Every one might be working with teams and the management might "wipe" the tapes.

Please help someone who lives far away and can't watch this "tilt". What exactly did they show that will not help the poker boom?

Did anyone else fond the portrayal of the "black" poker games a little offensive...Im neither an African American or particularly liberal but it seemed pretty naked. For those of you who were lucky enough not to see the show there was a entire cardroom in the back of a strip club which only catered to black males(smart guys that way you dont spend the $$ on 21 but rather lap dances)...the first scene that greeted the viewer in this room was of 2 black guys barking at each other and pulling guns out over a string bet....

This Show is Horrible!!! What do you expect from ESPN was my first reaction but this made the Pete Rose movie look good. I mean why in the hell would you make a show all about cheating. They have the rights to WSOP. Its like they want to slit there own throats. Fake fights that acomplish nothing, CEO & a Pro cheating together come on. The floor man questioning a player if he's able to play in a big game. Stereotyping certain races come on. This show sucks. The sad thing is I'll probable watch it next week.

Yeah, the white scumbags were clever, but the black scumbags were not, so they used guns. Way to go, ESPN.
The show was an embarrassment. Absolutely nothing redeeming in it. |

I didn't have to figure out that Teddy KGB wasn't lurking in a dark corner of every NYC card club before I felt comfortable playing in one.
I supsect most halfway-intelligent people with an interest in poker will realize that Tilt is nothing more than a lame Tarrantino-ripoff with no soul or veracity and figure out that poker is readily played in a non-corrupt environment. A show that portrayed the real pain of poker (psychological pitfalls, bankroll swings) in an honest way could have succeeded artistically. Of course cheating and collusion are part of the game, but to present it as the focal point of a life of cards is just absurd. Shane |

Just watched the show. It was not good. The acting was slightly better than I had anticipated but the writing was abysmal. The writers reused one of Worm's lines (Miami repeats Worm's line to Mike after being pulled out of the Chesterfield game), which I thought was sloppy.
The portrayal of big game players being cheats and working with the casino is not good. People who know little to nothing about poker will not realize this is not accurate. How many people thought Playmakers was basically the NFL? All players use/abuse drugs, slap their wives around, etc. ESPN took Playmakers off the air because the NFL felt that the general consensus was that this is what the NFL is. I don't see how poker pros aren't going to see this and think that they will be grouped in together as cheats working for the casino. |
