When do you make a borderline call? (ATs)
I'm wondering if this situation warranted a call or a fold. Up front, I'll say that if his cards were face up, I would have played it the same way, and yes I lost. So it's not all bad, I'm just wondering about the situation as a whole.
SO, it's late in a $5+1 "I'm a loser with no bankroll." multi table tourney. 210+ players is down to 17. Money started at 20. My attitude is I want top 3. My stack says I'm not likely to get it.
Blinds are 800/1600. I'm on the button with 13k, having just lost 4k with JJ (folded to two overcard board), and have A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. The villain in the hand pushes a 6k stack from MP3. Folded to me. SB has 25k and is playing conservatively. BB has 9k, and thinks I'm crazy, but is also conservative. She got into a race with me a few hands back and I won. She honestly thought her pocket 5s had my A9o dominated. I pushed behind and out went the blinds.
So is this the right call here? I'm thinking that my chip stack right now is 13th of 17.. or so, and if I take this guy down I'm up to 9th or so. If I lose, I've got an orbit to find a hand to double. Furthermore, the fella who pushed had been limping in alot then getting pushed out on the flop. Now he looked desperate. I put him on a WIDE range of hands, I can easily have him beat. If not, odds are good I have a race. For the record he pushed with QTo.
Is my thinking off base? At this late stage, where blinds are high, and hands are desperate is this a fold hand or a call hand when I feel strongly that the blinds go away? Or do I want them along?
