Default How do you play pocket Aces

So far in this session I have lost every hand where I help pocket Aces. This is how I typically play them. Comments?

Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 calls, MP1 raises, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO folds, Hero 3-bets, SB folds, BB folds, UTG+2 calls, MP1 caps, Hero calls, UTG+2 calls.

MP1 had seen 82% of the flops and raised preflop 50% of the time. It had been working for him only in that he had stolen the blinds pretty consistently.

Flop: (13.50 SB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
UTG+2 bets, MP1 raises, Hero 3-bets, UTG+2 calls, MP1 calls.

I now put UTG+2 on a pair of J.

MP1's raise concerned me, but he'd been a maniac all evening so I decided to watch him on the turn.

Turn: (11.25 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
UTG+2 checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets, UTG+2 calls, MP1 calls.

UTG+2 checked to I was now convinced that he had a pair of J and has decided to just ride it out.

MP1 backed off so I discounted him as just playing his usual game.

River: (14.25 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
UTG+2 checks, MP1 bets, Hero raises, UTG+2 folds, MP1 3-bets, Hero caps, MP1 calls.

When UTG+2 bet I assumed he was bluffing, trying to buy the pot, or he really thought his pair of J were good..

Final Pot: 22.25 BB

Yes, typing and playing. Causes silly mistakes and lots of spelling errors.

ok..so does that change your read on him on the river at all? I'd figure after the action he had given earlier in the hand that bluffing would be somewhat less likely...I may be wrong, but that would be my first impression.

Even maniacs catch a ragged 2 pair on the river every now and then. Or chase down a set.

Because he's a maniac, he could have anything. I don't mind the river raise, but when he reraises you just call him down. I would have to have a slightly stronger hand than an overpair to get into a raising war here on the river against a player who'll play/raise any hand at any time.

Yeah, and sometimes a pocket pair of 8's. Biggest lesson I (re)learned with this hand is "Even a {fish, maniac, ...} gets a hand sometimes."
