Default Bellagio Room Problem

On Friday, we had exactly 9 players to start our $60-$120 game with no list. About an hour later, four of the players (which consisted of 3 regulars and 1 tourist) requested that they start an $80-$160 mixed game (2-7 triple draw, holdem, and 8 or better stud). The floor person agreed to start the game, leaving our $60-$120 game with only 5 players and no list. Our game lasted about 20 minutes and then broke up since several of the players did not want to play shorthanded. I don't know how long the $80-$160 mixed game lasted.

Is this right?

It's unfortunate that your game broke. However, I don't think it's wrong for a room to spread a different game at different stakes even if it puts another game in jeopardy. If they had spread a new 80-160 hold'em game, that would be a terrible decision. Of course, neither managment or the 4 players who started the new game seem to have made a good decision.

why should the other 4 players be required to play in your game?

I don't think they "should be required to play in our game" but I don't believe that starting another shorthanded game is right either especially when there is no list for the full game. If they want to quit and play in another established game at a different limit or play in a different game altogether that is already going, there is nothing wrong with that.

I agree with your sentiments. A cardroom that starts games and doesn't make any effort to protect them will soon lose customers. I posted about a similar situation at Commerece a few weeks back. I think a player has a right to expect that when they're in a game that management will make some effort to protect the game.

ive thought from both sides of the arguement. but i have gone to the side of the players being able to start what they want. why should four players have to keep playing in a game they dont want to placate the other four. i think the house should have to start whatever anyone wants to play and let what happens happen. this only applies to the larger limits. if you dont the players will gravitate to another casino.

my point exactly. if brier and the other whiners still want to play, they can play in the mix game.
