Default King high bluffin the river

Hey guys,

Villian in this hand is 34 VPIP, 9 PFR, and .8 aggression factor postflop. He's actually pretty decent post-flop from what I can remember (I've got about 400 hands with him so far). If he pays attention at all, he should view me as pretty tight, and aggressive when I do have a hand. I'm pretty sure I havent showdown any bluffs at the table, but maybe made some questionable value bets to some of these players. I normally dont bet this river here, but I figured the Ace is a good bluff card. A lot of people just automatically put someone on AK when they raise preflop, atleast that's how I feel. Anyways, what you guys think of this? Pretty standard yah?

yeah i like it. He most likely puts in a raise on the flop with any pair, and it doesnt seem like the turn would've helped. My guess would be he had some sort of gutshot+overcards type hand.

Well it seems like he is on a draw, u are most likely to have the best hand why not check and call. getting one more bet, or doesnt this player bluff ?

Or is this one of those players that are hyper affraid of aces ?

Would he really fold a better hand then KJ except KQ ?

awful river bet. it has -EV. At this point you have hand to show down, but he will only call (or worse, raise) with a better hand. a busted draw will fold. any pair will call, and anything better will raise. check/call is the right play here. induce a bluff. also with .8 AF, he is unlikely to bet anything less than a pair of aces if you check. Sorry, but this is a textbook mistake. It worked out, but I am sure you would have won with a check as well. Re-read TOP on HU river play.

if he did fold a pair, he's an idiot. you don't making money in limit HE by folding any showdownable hand HU on the river for one bet unless you are 100% sure you are beat. that is not this situation.

save bluffs for your worst busted draws that can't survive a showdown.

I think there is a chance he folds a pair here. I've seen it before and I'll see it again. Not saying my play is right or wrong, but it is possible he folds a pair on the river. What does everyone else think?

1)If he was scared of your bet on the ace and folded, he would've likely checked the river behind a check from you. He will often do this even with a better hand than yours, but still worse than the a pair of aces.

2) In the case he does have a better hand than yours and you bet, he is like to call or raise which will cost you at least the one bet, and you might (even though unlikely) end up folding to a bluff.

3) If he was on a draw, your bet will force him to fold and there was no value to your bet.

4)If he bets to your check, i'd probably fold getting only 7-1, (i personally like 9-1 or more if i can only beat a bluff)

5)You may get him to fold a better hand than yours, but the occurance of this particular situation is very unlinkely based on the given player, hand, board, and action that has occured so far.

When considering the above i would personally check. I see it as an all-around better decision.
