Default Incredibly frustrated

This hand took place a while ago and has had me wondering what went wrong the since then. Stars rebuy tourney with the blinds at 400-800.
I'm BB with 60k
villian is SB with 50k
folds to Sb who raises to 2k
I find AdQd and reraise to 7k
villian calls
flop 7c9d10d villian checks
I move all in for 43k
Villian thinks and calls
he has Ahkh and I do not improve.

I guess what's been killing me is had I smooth called preflop and reraised on the flop villian who probably haved folded. Oh well my mistake I guess although I can't imagine how he made that call. thoughts?

Like you said I woulda smooth called the raise preflop for two reasons. First If everyone folds around to the blinds there is good odds both have premium hands. I have experienced this numerous times in many tournaments. Second I like to smooth call from the blinds becuase it makes it harder to put you on a specific hand, and if three rags come out you can make a value bet and try and take the pot down right there.

Your moving all in post flop is a move I wouldn't have made. I like to come out making a post oak bluff, this way the pot will build a little. If he calls down thats ok, cuase most likely he's drawing to big cards since he raised preflop. I'd continue to bet through the hand as long as he was checking to me, most the time if he didnt improve his hand by the turn he will fold to you. I also don't like the all in after the flop becuase if you had a big hand you would only be betting that flop becuase there isn't much of anything on that flop. To me the all in would appear as if to buy the pot, in which you were trying to do. Thats just me though.

The overbet screamed some sort of big draw, but he was an idiot for calling all of his chips with A high in this position. I think against most opponents that raise would have been enough to take the pot down. Just got unlucky that an ace high called all of his chips off late in a tourney. I think I may have bet the pot though, rather than moving in.

I call that bluff with any pair on the board. It is obvious that you DON'T want to see any more cards. Calling with just A high is a little fishy (esp. for all his money). I'd have put you on either an underpair or any bluff (J4 comes to mind)

70% of the time you go all in either because you're scared or because you are trying to scare someone else.

I like the previous post. Though, in a way, it puts more of your money at risk, smaller bets that tell him you are serious about the hand are MORE likely to induce a fold.

Wait, you're talking about small/minbets for a fold? I'm not really a fan of post oak betting. He'll probably take the 'free' card most of the time here, or come over the top. Then what? What if an ace hits the turn/river? bye bye stack anyway.
