Limp re-raising with suited connectors: smart play or out of my mind?
It seemed like I was viewed as pretty tight at this table. I actually thought about raising the 1st time but let it go, but after it was raised and everyone stayed in I pretty much knew everyone was tied to the pot if Button re-raised me. Thoughts on this?? Should I have raised the first go-round??

You are definitely behind and don't have the pot equity to justify a raise. This is a good drawing hand if you can see the flop cheaply but not one you want to invest a lot in preflop.

Why would you think about raising PF? This is a multiway hand, and a pair of 8's with a 7 kicker isn't going to take many pots down here.

This is not a hand to play capped pre-flop, especially to be leading the action.
The flush possibility is in a position to get dominated by higher cards, and again similar comment about the straight. This is a hand to play from the CO position to see the draw for 1 bet (maybe call the buttons raise, depending on how many call) as pointed by another responder. |
