Shot in the dark: 2001fp + HP ze4547wm = ??
My laptop is the HP model mentioned in the header--it's the garden-variety laptop sold by Walmart about a year ago.
With so many people reading this forum now, I'm wondering if anyone can report results of an attempted mating of the two. I just can't bring myself to order the 2001fp, have the UPS guy drop off a box, and no clue whether or not it will work. Thank you. |

There's 0 reason why it wouldn't work. The coupling of a computer and a monitor is not that complicated.

If it doesn work you can pick up a cheap base unit from E-Bay that would be more than adequate. No reason why it shouldn't work though.

Re: Shot in the dark: 2001fp + HP ze4547wm = ??
You will certainly be able to able to plug this monitor into your laptop and see a screen.
Your HP has a resolution of 1024x768 for the built in screen. Some laptops can drive external monitors at a higher res than the internal screen. If your laptop can't drive the external monitor at 1800x1600 then you will not be able to use the 2001fp to its best advantage. That is, you won't be able to 4 table without overlap. |

Re: Shot in the dark: 2001fp + HP ze4547wm = ??
This is really the question I'm trying to ask: whether or not the laptop's screen resolution can handle the higher resolution of the monitor--is there anyway to know ahead of time???
Where I am now: controlpanel->display->settings->display in display I have 2 possible options, which are: 1. digital flat panel (1024x768) on IGP340M 2. (default monitor) on IGP340M (note that no resolution is stated for the default monitor) (also, without an external monitor hooked up, it's set on choice #1 above (of course) AND the screen resolution slider is maxed out at 1024x768.) So the final final question boils down to: Is the max allowable screen resolution likely to be automatically enlarged to conform with the capabilities of the external monitor (when added) or not???? Thanks, guys. [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] |

Re: Shot in the dark: 2001fp + HP ze4547wm = ??
This doesn't tell you anything; it knows that the internal screen only does 1024x768.
Check manual or try calling HP tech service. My two most Recent laptops (IBM and Dell, both pretty top-of-the-line) would do more res on the external than on the internal screen, but neither would crank out 1600x1200. You might also need to upgrade the video driver. |
