When I clicked on something within the Empire software and it tried to open a page with IE I copied the address from the IE address box and pasted it into the address box on Firefox and it loaded fine. Then I saved these sites as Favorites in Firefox. Now when I want to go to one of those sites (bonus status for instance) I open the site from within Firefox instead of through the Empire software.

You can simplify this by installing this Firefox estension:
