Default Turn Aggression

Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG folds, MP calls, CO folds, Hero raises, SB folds, BB calls, MP calls.

Flop: (6.50 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB bets, MP calls, Hero calls.

Turn: (4.75 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB bets, MP folds, Hero raises, BB calls.

River: (8.75 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: 8.75 BB

Results in white below:
BB has 5h Th (one pair, twos).
Hero has Qd Ah (one pair, twos).
Outcome: Hero wins 8.75 BB.

I wanted to show results to kind of show my reason for raising the turn.

He is a bit TAG, not too good. My feeling is he'd bet the turn and check/fold the river when his draw misses.

I know Diablo talked about this in Mid. Who likes, who hates? Is my reasoning bad?

Took me a minute to figure out what you meant by this. Now that I get it, I like it.

If he is on a draw and you just call the turn and he misses, he is unlikely to bluff the river or call a river bet from you. By raising you ensure the extra bet.

If he already has some kind of a hand but not trips or better then he likely just calls your raise and checks the river as in the game.

If he 3 bets the turn you fold.

Looks an intelligent play to me. You have your read, the board fits exactly with that read (co-ordinated to straight with any A or 5, plus 2-suited) and your action does indeed extract the extra bet. Nice play.

I hate, i think you just playing to risky and outlandish for such a weak hand. you got this one but if you play this land like this in the long run i see a big loss.

There is a Tommy Angelo thread in the Mid/High Stakes forum where Jeff_A. had this to say:
[ QUOTE ]
Why not make the player who is on a draw (Tommy's words) put in 2 bets on the turn, especially since he's not going to put any in on the river when he misses...

[/ QUOTE ]
which is exactly what's happening here.

I like it. It would be an easy fold to a 3bet, right? I do think you do need the read. Wouldn't a good player lead his pp (like a 66) on this turn?
