As many of you know I am a dealer at the Shoe. Well some dont know,,,the tournament is a joint effort between the Horseshoe and the Gold Strike casino next door. GS has the room for such an event.

So after work this morning I went next door to say hello to some of the temporary floor staff that I only get to see once a year. Well one of our HS players tries talking me into a single table satellite that needs 3 players to start...I had no intention and said "ah what the hell".

So you know who I knocked out the very first hand!! Yep..Blinds 5-15 (starting with T300) utg opens for 60...I am 2 seats left...QQ and shove wanting to take the pot here.
Well my invitee was directly to my left and he "insta-calls"!! uhoh...we end up in a race...his AQs my QQ...I win.

I never looked back...so now I have a chip for an entry. I wasnt planing on it but I guess I'll take a day off! This was for a $550 seat.

Congrats. So what are you goingto do if you win the 550 one? Sell the 10k seat? I just figure it would be near impossible to get the time off for the WPO.

My boss will definately give me the 4 days off for that one....and I am sure Kenny (poker room mgr) would be fine with that too. I wouldnt sell that seat.

Is the place booming yet?
The single tables opened----how is the action.
I was able to win several thousand last year playing the single talbes. I didn't play one tourney and I've been beating myself up all year for selling all my chips.

This year it's gonna be different.

Well it's getting booming....plenty of fish at most each single. 1-3 solids and predectibles too. I did catch cards but I also let go of a couple steals when re-popped and knew I was behind. And I picked up an easy tell that helped me a bunch.

I raised 6 1/2 x the BB after 2 limpers in late postion with AKs....UTG L1 called...L2 folded. Flop came J73 with 2 diamonds...UTG shoved... I caught a tell saying he was drawing...So I said it..."are you drawing? I think your on a draw" he looked away nervously and it wasnt a show. I instantly called then and he showed me A4s for the flush draw...I backdoored a flush on running board pairs.

Yes I went strictly on a good read. I knew I could get hurt but I also still had plenty of chips if I lose this hand. But I felt very confident that I was actually ahead in the hand.

Some of these players cant lay down an ace anything preflop.
I must have mucked 5-6 ace rags.

Congrats!

We're coming down before the main event, but haven't found much as far as satellite info. Can you tell me anything about the buy-ins/structures, specifically for the multi-table/super satellites.

From what I hear they're running all the time. The one that I know of starts at 11pm a tthe Shoe. It's a 100$ buy-in with wither 40 or 50 dollar rebuys.

I have to go back down there right now...I'll try to remember to grab the specifics so I give it to ya right. I cant remember it all exact. I'll then post the main event sattelite info here.

btw....speculation for main event is 800+...wow...2 years ago just barely 200.
