Default Borgata for the first time and a room rate question.

I'll be at the borgata for my first trip to a casino late tonight and through wednesday. Would be cool to meet some of you while i'm there. let me know if you'll be there!

anyway, on to my question. i booked my room about 2 weeks ago, but i couldn't get the poker room rate directly on the phone because this will be my first time to the borgata, and i don't have a rewards card yet. i have already signed up online and just need to pick up the card when i get there. the rep on the phone said i could get the rate changed when i get there and establish play, but i've also been reading that poker rate rooms can get filled up. what are the chances that i'll get the shaft here and end up paying standard price?

thanks!

I'll be in the same boat next week. I can't answer your question, but the fact that we're staying on weekdays is in our favor.

1) Get a card when you get there

2) Be sure to Check-In to the poker game you are sitting with that card so that your playing time is recorded. Floor should automatically do this for you.

3) When you have completed your session (8+ hours to get the weekday poker rate), be sure to Check-Out at the main desk in the poker room. Request the main desk calls the front desk at that time to verify that you have played 8+ hours and qualify for the poker rate. Alternately you can have the front desk verify your poker hours the next morning when checking out. On a multi-day stay, I am not sure how this works out, so you are better off having the poker room's main desk call the front desk after each day/night of playing.

4) Verify when checking out of your room that the amount you were charged for your room reflects the poker rate for the day(s) you've stayed and qualified for the poker rate.

Note: The poker rate on the weekends is standard $125 regardless of hours played.

You may get the shaft for tonight, but if you play the required hours in the poker room you should at least be able to get the rate for tomorrow. All is not lost if you don't get the rate tonight, because if you have enough poker room time, they will give you the poker rate next time you make a reservation.

well, i'm not getting a room tonight. i'll be arriving there around 1 or 2 AM (leaving after the sugar bowl) and i'll be playing through the night and morning. i made the room reservation for tuesday night, so getting the hours should not be a problem. just hope they don't go back and say that they ran out of poker rate rooms, but yes, it is a weekday...

Just so you know, tonights hours will count for today (Monday) up until 6am. At 6am they switch over and an hours you play after that will count towards Tuesday night.

Hey Avid-

Just stayed at the Borg on the poker rate two weeks ago.

Spoke with Jerry(?), the poker room manager, who said that
to get the poker rate, you can't just book a regular room, but instead have to book a specific 'poker rate room' through reservations...

Said it was a change of policy.

That said, got a very nice room at the forty buck rate. Can't beat it.
