Re: zoo tsunami relief tourney
Very well done Granny. The efforts of the entire group reflect very well on the quality of people we are associated with in this community.
Kudos especially to GrannyMae. Those who have not done it probably do not realize the huge amount of effort involved in putting together a reasonably large tournament. Granny has in all probability done nothing else in the past 4 days. The result obviously well worth the effort. $8659 is awesome. Congratulations. Doc |

Why we fight
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_In...ean_earthquake
It's all there, the timeline, the casualty breakdowns, the whys and why nots. One last thought: the reason given for not establishing a warning network in the Indian Ocean (it only occurs every several centuries) is the same one given world-wide for not mapping or scanning for asteroids and other near earth objects, which will (not may...will) strike us someday as they have repeatedly in the past. That day could be tomorrow, or it could be in 2969, or anytime inbetween. If it strikes the ocean the result could be a tsunami to make this one look like a plunk in a puddle. Or, should it strike a city 1 million dead might just be the downpayment. While we are limited as to how we could destroy such a threat with current technology, in the very near future this will be much less of a problem as costs to orbit come down. As for today, just having sufficient warning of an impending strike might mean the difference between life and death for many people, and at a cost of a very few millions of dollars (not even a measurable sum for the budgets of the large western economies). Be proud you did something to help your fellow humans. Be warned that it could happen to you and yours. Insp. |

Re: zoo tsunami relief tourney
Thanks!
To GrannyMae for all your efforts. This must have been a tremendous amount of work. Also thanks for the double mention (heh). To all contributors for helping to save and rebuild some lives. To PokerStars and Lee Jones in particular for stepping up. To all tourny participants for yet another reminder that I suck at NL. --uuDevil (QMcat) |

Re: zoo tsunami relief tourney
Hey, thought it should be mentioned.
Big Kudo's to kfellmy (2nd). The only guy in the top 10 that donated his entire winnings. That's some serious cash. busguy |

Re: zoo tsunami relief tourney
I was disappointed that I wasn't able to play in the tourney, but I was able to get in some ring game play today, so I just decided to donate today's winnings to the ReliefEffort fund that PS has set up.
Great job to everyone involved in the Tourney, and especially GrannyMae! |
