i just bought turbo O8 and am surrprised about a lot of the advice that it gives during a hand it seems like it wants you to limp reraise a lot pre flop and bet a lot of flops into multiple players with lame hands. also it plays for half of the pot on the turn a lot and advises a lot of suspect calls. i am also currious about what anyone thinks about its pre flop hand selection i think it is a little on the loose side. i bought this program as a tool for simulations not really for the game or advice so its no big deal. i remember the holdem advice being shaky but i think this O8 is even worse. i guess it goes to show you how tough it must be to make a bot

There are a couple of point systems that are interesting, simulations should be interesting as well but beware they are just that simulations.

I don't have any real clue about what your talking about, but if it's limit omaha, and there are 6 players on the turn still in, and you have the nut low - it might be right to play for half the pot.
The key is will you win half the pot, or split half the pot. |

i realize that it is right to play for half of the pot at times i just think that a lot of times it recommends playing for half i think that it is loose

Well if there's only 3 players the entire hand and it's capped on every street....
PF - 2 BB x 3 players F - 2 BB x 3 T - 4 BB x 3 R - 4 BB x 3 36BB pot = 18 for low = 9 for quarter - you put in 12 = -3BB. 36BB pot = 18 for low = 18 for win - you put in 12 = +6BB. 36BB pot = 18 for low + 18 for high = 36 for win - you pot in 12 = +24BB. Scooping 1 hand is the same as splitting 4 hands (power of the scoop!). That's why it's often important to try and drive out marginal high hands if you have a lock on low and a marginal high (TPTK, mid 2 pair, etc..) by betting and raising and re-raising. It's only costing you 1-2-3BB to make the play but the payoff is huge so it doesn't have to be successful very often to be +EV (not to mention it's +EV simply for winning low). |
