Re: Possible Temporary Lapse of Good Judgement
I think I would rather check-call the turn, you can't guarantee enough action to make a checkraise for value here.
Other than that, the hand looks good. |

Re: Possible Temporary Lapse of Good Judgement
I actually like the turn C/R but its close. If there was a spot to fold it was preflop IMO and that's close too.

I'm sure there are reasons I'm missing, but it doesn't seem to have value, and seems too likely to be 3-bet. Your Ace outs are almost never good, your J and 6 outs are good almost always, and 7 of your club outs are good always (2 are good most of the time). Your 9 outs are worthless. So you've got ~13 outs, maybe 14. 2.3:1. Rob |

Re: Possible Temporary Lapse of Good Judgement
I guess I thought it was for pure value, assuming we would trap at least one of the opponents with us. When you put it all mathematically like that I second guess my immediate reaction, which was "we have a value raise here". At least I said it was close...but you have me on the fence and pulling me to the "call" side.

Re: Possible Temporary Lapse of Good Judgement
Anybody like raising the flop here? With a gutshot, an overcard and a backdoor flush draw, I think that there are all sorts of good things that can happen here. You protect not only your overcard, but your weak gutshot (if you hit in on the turn, lots of cards can come on the river to give other people a higher straight or chop). You could get a free card. The pot is getting big enough to try something like this.
The caveats. I don't like this play if you think: a) UTG+2 is likely to 3-bet b) free card play doesn't work too well at this table Thoughts? |
