Pocket Pair to a Set

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

My normal mode with a small pocket pair is to see the flop and fold unless I make a set. The table has had 6 people to the flop consistently.

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
Hero calls, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 folds, CO calls, Button raises, SB folds, BB calls, Hero calls, MP2 calls, CO calls.

I have MP2 as loose aggressive agressive, CO is tight passive passive, Button is loose agressive passive, BB is loose passive passive.

Flop: (10.50 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, MP2 calls, CO calls, Button calls, BB calls.

Flopped my set. Everyone acted like they have all evening.

Turn: (7.75 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, MP2 calls, CO raises, Button calls, BB folds, Hero 3-bets, MP2 calls, CO calls, Button caps, Hero calls, MP2 calls, CO calls.

I put CO on a pair of Q and assume MP2 and the Button are just excited.

River: (23.75 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players)
Hero bets, MP2 folds, CO calls, Button raises, Hero calls $3.62 (All-In), CO calls, Button 3-bets, CO calls.

I bet for value, but expect everyone to fold. I couldn't be more wrong.

Final Pot: 34.18 BB

Looks fine. Never start a hand with less than 12 BB's.

Barring an unusually loose (6-8 seeing the flop) and passive table, I'm folding this UTG. Your plan of call and fold unimproved on the flop seems awfully -EV in the long run.

If it smells like pocket queens (preflop raise), and acts like pocket queens (the call, then cap on the river), I'd say it's pocket queens.

If I read him as a good TAG, I check-call the river.

Folding PF here is the best move, UTG with 44 cant be EV+
Also, I agree Jordan the raise preflop and hightened aggression with turned Q means he probably has you beat, its not likely he would play AQ this way i dont think

I wasn't sure about the preflop call either, but looking at his player descriptions, I think there's enough loose-passivity to justify limping with any PP in this spot.

I usually do not limp this UTG unless I am very sure of many limpers, but if Shill says to play, it must be so!
