Re: AJo - Flopped straight, Bet the river?
[ QUOTE ]
I don't think that's a frequent play for the *average* player though. I also think that a Kx or A checks behind some (a lot?) of the time. [/ QUOTE ] Yup, I agree. That's why I bet/fold default, bet/call sometimes, and check/call sometimes. But bet/fold is the default, and is probably best on average. Rob |

Re: AJo - Flopped straight, Bet the river?
[ QUOTE ]
That outcome does not indicate that your bet was a good one. Most likely, he held an underpair or a heart draw, hands with which he couldn't possibly call a bet. Had you check-called, you might have picked up an extra bet. [/ QUOTE ] I said I was happy that most people here said bet/fold. Him folding had nothing to do with it. |

Re: AJo - Flopped straight, Bet the river?
Good value bet. Since you have to spend a bet on this river, I would not want it to be for a check/call. You will gain enough form the people that missed their str8/flushes and will bluff to make up for the people that check behind with Ax adn Kx that pay you off for this to be the correct play. Good hand

Re: AJo - Flopped straight, Bet the river?
[ QUOTE ]
It's a value bet because quite likely you still have the best hand. And there are hands that will call, Kx being the most obvious. It's an easy fold to a raise because only the laggiest of lags will raise you here w/o at least a ten. I could fold to a river raise here all night long and not bat an eyelash. Check/calling here is really weak, imo. [ QUOTE ] but a lot of players would raise the river here with a set or 2 pair. [/ QUOTE ] btw, both of those hands you mentioned just made a FH. [/ QUOTE ] Oops, my bad. Sorry. |
