Even if you have the best hand preflop, ..., you still have to outdraw 3 hands to take down the pot.

If you have the best hand preflop, they are drawing.

I would fold in this situation also. Even if you have the best hand preflop, which is unlikely with the betting and raising all-in's, you still have to outdraw 3 hands to take down the pot.

this might be the worst advice ever.
well, maybe not ever, but it's pretty bad.

you know what i meant, even if you have the best hand you have to dodge 3 drawing hands to win the pot. And if you don't have the best hand then your 4.2-1 underdog.

It really depends on what people are going to play in this situation.

If no one has AA or KK, there is actually a good chance they are holding each others outs here.

Even with the meager holdings my opponents had - one player was resigned to needing one of 2 aces. The second player needed 1 of 3 kings. The third player with AT was virtually dead, escpcially with all the broadway cards reducing his straight chances.

Yes a flop with JJ is possible, but I will take my QQ up against someone needing running Jacks any day of the week.

I think the whole key to this hand - is do you put either UTG +1 or MP on AA or KK?

all the posts are very interesting, butif I'm not mistaken only one speaks of the value QQ gets for calling. If you have a great read and know that you are sitting with absolute rock tight players, the fold is easy, otherwise the all-in is the only way for me. you get to see all 5 cards(unfortunately so do they) and like other people said when you win you triple up, but if you lose you are still in ok shape. Very helpful thread as I am playing a big tourny friday night.
thanks

It takes a pretty uncommon set of circumstances for it to be correct to fold QQ preflop. I've played NL tourneys for 4 years and I can count on 1 hand the number of times I've folded QQ preflop in a non-satellite situation.
