Default 2 Pair River Decision....

Hi all,

Read on villian: He is a regular with a 21% VPIP/5% PFR, and doesn't really seem to get out of line...

Paradise Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (7 handed) converter

saw flop|saw showdown

MP1 ($105.75)
MP2 ($191.50)
CO (villian) ($210.00)
Button ($187.00)
SB ($503.00)
Hero ($193.00)
UTG ($714.50)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $1.
3 folds, CO (villian) calls $2, 2 folds, Hero checks.

Flop: ($5) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, villian bets $4.5, Hero calls $4.50.

Turn: ($14) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $10, villian calls $10.

River: ($34) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $14, villian raises to $70, Hero ???.

How do you like my play on the flop and turn... I smoothe called the flop because it was very uncoordinated and I had 2 pair.

I would bet out on the flop, or check raise him and lead out with a pot bet on the turn. I would bet pot on river, fold to reraise.

Since you checked, check-raise the flop with top 2, bet pot or more on the turn and force him out. Or--bet both flop and turn real hard. My guess is he flipped over KJ with all those weak bets letting him hit his overcard In NL at small stakes, you've gotta play real aggressive when you hit because many people will call to the river and try to hit their miracle if you play too weak. In other words, more aggression would've been nice here.

I really don't think C/R and leading the turn is best here for a few reasons...

1. He will probably fold to a turn bet with less than 2 pair if I c/r the flop. (This guy is not an idiot)

2. I feel leading the turn is correct so that he cannot check behind, plus a flush draw came.

River decision...what to do?

If he is not the type to bluff a scary river, then it looks like KJ or a set. Fold.
