I will be in Las Vegas 28-30 December and would like some help finding a Hold’em Tournament. I will be staying downtown but will have transportation. My preference would be no limit and no rebuys. Unfortunately, my pocket book tells me to keep the buy-in on the low side so keep that in mind. I would probably rate myself as a fish large enough to eat other fish while trying to avoid the sharks. My experience is mainly online (running a tad behind on winnings), 2 B and M attempts (even), and home tourneys (ahead). Any advice that you might have would be helpful.

Play a cheap one and have a good time. I think you are probably dead money so your +EV is the experience and the fun.
Just like me in Tunica. I play the Saturday morning tourney at the Gold Strike whenever I'm in town. I am dead money but I have a great time! |

I am also going to Vegas but later this week. Here's what I have found so far:
Horseshoe $70 plus $40 rebuys at 2:00 PM every day Golden Nugget $60 plus $40 rebuys and $40 add on at 11:00 AM every day Mandalay Bay $30 (this sounds like a joke because you only start with 300 in tournament chips) I would love to hear more suggestions from others out there on the board. |

Check out the Plaza. I played in a 2 when I was there in September.

On my first trip to Vegas, my priorities were similar. I wanted a no/limited rebuy tounament with 60-70 people.
The Horseshoe's 2PM is actually limited to ONE $40 rebuy. So budget $110 for that. As for payouts, they paid top 10 out of 66 with a fairly flat payout structure. There's also a drawing for tournament players for 3% of the prize pool for those playing live one hour after the tournament ends. For time refernece, I lasted about 3.5 hours finishing in 5th. |

For my last trip to Vegas, someone give me this link
Pokerupdate I found it somewhat useful, and it lists a few of the casinos' daily tournaments. I only played in Harrah's, which was a $40 buy-in with one rebuy. I believe it started at 10am, but was limited to 50 people, so it filled up minutes after registration opened at 9am. BTW, I am in no way affiliated with the above web site, and cannot attest to its accuracy. |

I would probably try Orleans, Binions, Plaza, Luxor and Mirage. There are several other games but those prob have rebuys. I have a hard time planning my sleep schedule while in vegas. I am going to try more during the day (peak hours) then staying up till 4-5am. Some of the tournaments start at noon, so just to get up at 11am will be tricky enough. |

I was there in November and stayed downtown. I played at the Plaza at 10:00am. ($60.00 buy in and one $50.00 add on). The Horseshoe has one at 2:00 PM and another at 8:00 PM ($70.00 buy in and one $40.00 add on).
Golden Nugget has two tourneys (I think 11:00 am and 7:00 PM) but I never could work those in. |
