Re: Cherokee Harrahs Live Poker Update
Thanks for the update. Sucks that we have to wait until March, though

Re: Cherokee Harrahs Live Poker Update
According to their web site, their "new Poker room will feature 24 poker tables with some of the more popular games such as Texas HoldŽem and Omaha, as well as 5 and 7 Card Stud." No word as to live blackjack.

Re: Cherokee Harrahs Live Poker Update
[ QUOTE ]
Does this mean they will offer other live games too, like blackjack? That video blackjack [censored] that they have right now is for the birds. [/ QUOTE ] No, it doesn't mean anything for their other games. Poker will apparently be operated as a 'class 2' game (like bingo) unlike the class 3 games like blackjack and video poker in which you play against the house, and which their agreement w/ NC requires to be video games. Bummer that it won't open until March now. I'm still psyched! B. |

I just called Harrah's and they say they're still on track to open some time in Jan.

Actually, they would have needed to take anatomy, as the tunica is found in the scrotum.

Re: Cherokee Harrahs Live Poker Update
poker will be the only live game with actual cards. Everything else, craps, and blackjack, will remain video. In these you are playing against the house, whereas in poker, you are playing each other.
something about level II vs Level III gaming. doc |

Re: Cherokee Harrahs Live Poker Update
That would be great news! May I ask who you spoke with? I traded e-mails with the person who is listed as the media contact (her signature line on her e-mail identified her as Director of External Relations & Career Development) specifically for the Cherokee, NC Harrahs, who wrote that it wouldn't be until March. One would think she would know what's going on, but you may have a better source.

Re: Cherokee Harrahs Live Poker Update
This story doesn't make me optimistic about a January opening.
Here's another story. Free registration required. Doesn't say much new, just says the games, limits, and house charge are up in the air at this point. I sure hope for a January opening, but I'm mainly hoping there aren't any major roadblocks that hold it up even longer than March. B. |

Re: Cherokee Harrahs Live Poker Update
FWIW, which apparently may not be much, Joyce Dugan, cited numerous times in the first article, is the person with whom I traded e-mail messages, in which she told me that it was "looking more like March" for opening the live poker. Oh, well, wait and see, I guess.
