Shipping department just called me, said they had a package and will bring it up.

Yes, I had it delivered to work so that it would come faster!

Heheheh.

1. Will the advice in Harrington On Holdem be applicable to cash games, or should I beware of tranferring it there?

2. I'm guessing Volume 2 would be more applicable to SnG's. Is this correct?

[/ QUOTE ]I think Mason has responded to your first question before. IIRC, he said it would apply to cash games.

Since volume 2 will be on late stage tourney play, I'd say the answer to your 2nd question is also yes.

If somebody doesn't mind, can you give us a chapter/page# break down? I haven't received my book yet, and that would at least "sooth the jones" a bit.

Well, I'm not typing out the whole thing, but here are some highlights:

367 pages. (with extra pages for notetaking in the back!)

1-33 - Part one, mostly a background on NL. Includes 2003 final table hand example.

35-63 - Part two, Playing Styles and Starting Requirements. Includes different approaches, The Art of Defense, The Hammer, The Rope a Dope, different tournament types.

83-104 - Part Three, reading the table. Physical tells, betting patterns, observing yourself.

119-144 - Part Four, Pot Odds and Hand Analysis. Typical odds stuff, although there are some good examples of estimating odds against ranges of possible hands.

173-213 - Part Five, Betting Before The Flop. Different PF betting scenarios, Gap Concept and Sandwich Effect, The Squeeze play (one of my favorite parts so far), All-in PF.

263-286 - Part Six, Betting after the Flop. Texture of the flop, Value bets, continuation bets, probe bets.

337-353 - Part Seven, Betting on Fourth and Fifth Street. 4th St. continuation bet, playing and playing against drawing hands, when a bad card hits, all-in on 4th and 5th st.

You see gaps between the numbers, because at the end of each part, there are a series of problems, similar to Ed's hand examples in SSHE, applying the concepts from the previous section.

Throughtout the book, Harrington and Robertie mention other parts that will be coming up in volumn 2, including middle and late parts of tournaments, playing shorthanded, making final table deals, etc.

That should whet your appetite!

I just got my copy in the mail. There's a great hand example about whether folding AA against a possible made set is correct. His thought process is really interesting.

can't wait to read it all!

Deep money tournament advice is normally applicable to cash games.

I was siting here looking out the window at the rain, bemoaning the fact that I took the day off to play golf but got rained out, when I saw the USPS truck pull up.

Whoopee!! Not a bad day after all -- Harrington's book was in the mail!
