For those of you who think forever is possible, what do you think most separates a winning fish from a losing/breakeven fish? Better opponent reading skills? Better understanding of pot/implied odds? Better table selection? Lucky 4 leaf clover?

Doesn't the very definition of fish imply that they don't understand odds, be they pot odds or implied odds? They're fishing for cards, regardless of whether they have good odds or not.

I'm referring to "fish" in the statistical sense (ie loose passive type players with stats such as above). Everybody "fishes" for cards. If you're not "fishing"(aka drawing) when you have good odds you're leaving a lot of profit on the table.

Yes, but true fish call without examining the odds. Or maybe they do examine the odds but do it anyway. They get a charge out of catching miracle cards and beating strong hands.

Isn't that why they're called fish? They play lots of hands before the flop, even bad ones.

Playing too many hands and then being passive when you play all of them pretty much renders you helpless regardless of your other poker abilities. Against average .50/1 party competition you can survive playing too many hands if your aggressive and raise in the right spots. If you're passive what weapon do you have? The fold? The only way to be a winning fish is to play with tables full of even bigger fish all the time. I imagine this happens in home games etc but doubtful it's found at any respectible internet limit .25/.50 or above.
