If you're going to play 5/10 or higher, that's all on the no-smoking side and the smoke isn't bad (it's more or less a different room).

Greektown has recently started spreading NL with a $1000 minimum buy-in, and 10/25 blinds.

However, they didn't change the $100 min buyin games (with a 5/5 blinds, and a $2 blind on the button), so the only real difference is the blinds.

Before the $1000 game, people would sit at the $100 game with thousands anyway. They still do, so that game hasn't changed much.

I wish they'd changed the $100 to a capped buyin, $500 or less.

I just got back from Greektown. I played 5-10 there tonight and won 37 BB's in 5 hrs. I love the place. It is a friggin' goldmine! There is no long waiting at Greektown and whoever says otherwise hasn't been there in a while. Just call ahead and by the time you get there a seat should be open. I got a seat within 15 minutes of arriving the last seven times I've gone there. Motorcity sometimes takes 3-4 hours to get a table (only 8 tables to Greektowns 16.)

The floormen have been known to beat people up and take their money for no reason.

Its about an hour and a half from detroit, but if anyone has the chance to play at soaring eagle in mt pleasant, do it! The dealers there are some of the best I've ever seen. Very focused on the game, and extremely fast. Beats the crap out of Motor City's or Greektown's dealers

Do they spread no-limit at Soaring Eagle?

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll head up there for the Omaha/8. Hi/lo split games are the only games I enjoy in limit poker. I'll definitely call up first as its a pretty long drive from where I'll be staying.

The only time you have a meaningful wait is on Friday night and Saturday afternoon/evening, so don't declare it wait-free until you play on a weekend.

It's much better now that they've gone from 8 to 16 tables and Motor City has added 8 of their own.

Although on "special" days, it can get bad still. The Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving were a madhouse.

Only been to Greektown twice, both times the wait was about an hour. Played 3/6 and 5/10 for a little bit on my way out. The 3/6 I played in both times was the most passive game I have ever played in. I felt like I had complete control of it, and I'm not even very good. Can't wait to go back.

Greektown wasn't as bad as what I had read on the internet(mainly RGP). Except for the dealer who was watching TV the whole time and didn't even follow the action, it was pretty enjoyable.
