300 BB Guideline
Hi all-
I have a question about the 300BB bankroll guideline. Does this refer to 300 big blinds or 300 big bets? Does the answer depend on whether you're playing NL or limit? Thanks! |

Re: 300 BB Guideline
When referenced this way, BB = Big Bets. Does it make a difference between NL and limit, yes (though I'm no expert on NL). When people talk about winrate, it's also in terms of Big Bets. The only time BB=Big Blind is when someone talks about being in the BB or the BB did this or that.

Can you or someone else elaborate on the difference b/w how someone should bankroll NL versus limit games? (I'm talking strictly about ring games, btw). I currently play only NL and within my bankroll and don't plan to move up until I have at least the suggested 300BB bankroll to cover higher stakes games. I'm just wondering if there's anything else I need to keep in mind. |

Re: 300 BB Guideline
10 buy-ins if you play pretty tight / conservative, at least 15 buy-ins if possible.
I prefer to play with at least 20 buy-ins. |

[/ QUOTE ] I consider BB to be an ambiguous and therefore unsuitable notation, for exactly the reason you cite. Is it really that hard to write BBet and BBl? |

(I know the post said ring games, but that might be easy to overlook....) Forgive my ignorance, i just don't know how "buy-ins" are calculated in NL ring games. |

Re: 300 BB Guideline
Making fun of my own nerdishness a bit.
But seriously, why not clarify which one you're referring to? It's not like it's that many more letters. |

Re: 300 BB Guideline
Typical buy-ins. Whatever you normally buy in for.
I tend to buy in for the max. 10 Buy-ins isn't bad, if you are willing to move down if you hit 5. |
