A Sklansky hand
Party 15/30 10 handed. I don't have much experience or specific notes on any of the players involved unfortunately.
I raise 3 limpers from the Button with K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] - blinds call. Flop comes Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Should I consider checking this flop if all check to me? Are maximizing my chances of winning the hand and maximizing my EV equal in this scenario? |

Re: A Sklansky hand
bet, because in the PP 15 games any pair will call the flop. So will KT and T8 and garbage like that. You cant give these hands a free card.

Re: A Sklansky hand
Why on earth would you want to check this flop?

Re: A Sklansky hand
in the party 15 game they will probably even sense weakness by your flop bet, check-raising you on the turn with their 22...of course spiking a 2 on the river to drag the pot.

Re: A Sklansky hand
I think you are misunderstanding Sklansky's advice. As I understand, the play you are talking about is only recommended in a couple of specific circumstances.
1. Your opponents will fold if you bet 2. They are drawing near dead, and a free card won't hurt you On the Party 15 most people are not going to fold any kind of draw, you stand to gain way more here by betting, this is not a slow play kind of flop... |

Why would you check the flop? Bet.

Re: A Sklansky hand
The only way you can check the flop with KK when the board is unorganized is if you flop quads or a boat AND you are afraid that betting will scare people away. On PP, I don't think you will encounter that at all. So bet!

Re: A Sklansky hand
I will take a stab. Are you referring to the part in the book where he checked aces to allow himself to raise the turn and eliminate people? If so, the pot isnt nearly big enough + youre hoping to be checkraised....
