Default 99 vs. Turn Scare Card

PokerStars 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (7 handed)

I'm not happy with my play on this hand. The Ace on the turn scared me (too much?). My first orbit and I didn't have much of a read, CO seems a bit passive to this point--Suggestions? I am mostly interested in my pre-flop and turn play (betting this flop seems pretty standard).

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. CO posts a blind of $0.25.
UTG folds, MP1 calls, Hero calls, CO (poster) checks, Button calls, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (6 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (6 players)
SB checks, BB checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets, CO calls, Button calls, SB folds, BB calls, MP1 calls.

Turn: (5.50 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players)
BB checks, MP1 bets, Hero folds, CO calls, Button folds, BB folds.

River: (7.50 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
MP1 bets, CO calls.

Final Pot: 9.50 BB

Raise preflop. Turn seems like a pretty easy fold. Any ace or four beats you, and in a 5 handed pot it is likely someone (MP1) just hit their hand. Also, the pot is decently small and you are drawing to only two outs for a win if you are behind.

Should I raise with every pocket pair pre-flop in this situation?

I'm not sure how the pacific games play, but in general, no. 88 should be the lowest pair you raise with in this situation. Anything lower and you are looking to hit a set so you want to see the flop as cheap as possible.

The consensus is that you should raise pocket pairs <=99. So yes, 99 should be a raise, eights are not.

Less than or equal to 99?
I still disagree though. I think 88 is an easy raise to perhaps buy the button and for possible free cards on later streets. But I haven't played micros for awhile so my thinking may be flawed.

i'd wait until a higher limit to raise 99 PF. raising is a good way to have 3.5 opponents who cannot be run off their cards. limp it unless its somehow folded to you in MP2 or there is 1 limper to you in MP3. play mostly for set value against the ultra-loosies. at penny stakes i might raise b/c i expect the flop to be 6 or 7 way even with the raise.

its become table and situational dependent for me after I realized I don't like to auto-raise it PF.

We'll stick with this for micros. Thanks btspider.
