Default Short-stacked at final two tables...mistake???

Last night, final two tables, 11 players left in $100 buy-in nl hold em...only top 10 pays. I'm the shortest stack at my 5-man table with about 7K...blinds are 2and4K. I'm on small blind. UTG limps in (after his limp he's got about 9K left). Folds to me...I have A4D...I go all in, BB folds. UTG calls, turns over AKoff. I lose and go out 11th!!!!!

So my question is...with two short stacks at the other table, was it just stupid of me to make that play? I figure I can't just call (call=40% of my chips)...should I have just folded and hoped that the blinds only came around one more time???

Any help would be appreciated.

Tough one. Since the person that limped is also a short stack, he probably has a better hand than yours. I'm surprised he didn't push all-in. I would have waited and tried to push in the next few hands, and isolate a random hand in the big blind. You're going to need to get lucky, in any situation.
