Default Two overpair hands...what did I do wrong?

All -

Had two overpair hands that I wanted to post to see what I did wrong. BTW, I'm Begbie00 in the logs below.

First hand (1223581973): pocket KK.

Basically, I get KK. Flop comes with 3 to a straight, 2 to a flush. I bet to protect my hand, thinking that a checkraise with that much reverse implied odds out there would be deadly.

Second hand (1223752230): pocket QQ.

I flop a set of Queens, but 2-flush and only 1-gap hit the board. Again, I bet to protect...

Should I have been checkraising here? Or did I just misread the strength of my hands?

Thanks,

Mike

In hand 2 no need to 3 bet the turn.

In hand 1:

Aiming High, a player who has been checking through out all of a sudden re-raises. I think flags should have gone up. Probably time to stop raising.

In Hand 2.

J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] on the turn is a scare card. Big time. With a 4 straight on the board, you have to figure there's a good chance that you're beaten here.

I think putting in the third bet was probably wrong. Again, at this point, I'd probably call through at this stage but expect to lose the hand.

Here is my limited 0.02cents worth, I am in total agreement with Ken:

Hand 1...... The re-raise .. would have made me think trips or flopped str(Not 2pr Yuck!), I would have called the re-raise But any bet on the river I would have folded.

Hand 2... No 3 bet here....... But I woulda made the cry call myself

Regards David

Hand 1: You played preflop and flop fine. Aiming High called a raise preflop with T3s. His raise could mean anything. If you knew he was this type of nut, I could easily see 3 betting the turn in a lot of cases. However, I would have probably slowed way down with mutliple callers on the flop and the obvious straight possibilities on the board. Many people after flopping the made straight would wait for the big money rounds to raise, so I would probably bet and call a raise on the turn and check and call the river if it didn't make a 3 flush or a four straight on the board in which case I would fold.

Hand 2: You played preflop and the flop fine. On the turn, you are behind any person with a king or an 8, but you do have 9 outs to make a full house. I would check and then call with the open ended 4 straight on the board on the turn. I think calling on the river isn't terrible in case your opponents hand got duplicated and now you can split, but you are playing the board and any ace beats you. I would consider laying it down, but I would probably call hoping to chop (raising on the end hoping to represent an Ace or a flush is probably not a bad play either, but I would reserve that to use against a player that I suspect could make a tough laydown for one bet).
