Default Good line against LAG?? - $506max

Villian is total idiot who has like $300. I have around the buy in.

I have K6o in the BB. 2 callers including LAG in on the button.

Flop comes K93r

I check, MP checks, Villian bets $5

Turn is a 2.

I check, Villian checks.

River is a 7.

I bet $1, Villian raises to $10, I call

I don't like checking through on the flop. I say that you bet it, and if you get raised, fold, if you get called, throw on the brakes and try to get a showdown as cheap as possible. Also, what was the point of the $1 bet on the river? I mean, it was at least a $15 pot, so were you expecting to take it down with that bet on the river? You might as well just say "yeah, i've got something, but I really don't like it, so raise me and I won't want to call."

I like the $1 blocking bet on the river.

Isn't that exactly the point?

Well, that would be the point if you had a strong hand that you WANTED him to reraise. As it is, top pair with a 6 kicker, I don't think that you want to be commiting much more money to the pot, even against a seriously LAG idiot. I don't see the difference between a $1 bet on the river and a check. I'm not saying that it's necessarily a "bad" move, I'm just saying that I don't see the point of it.

1$ blocking bet is too weak. If I were a laggy idiot I'd raise way more than 10$. When a lag sees a huge underbet like that, they'll generally pounce. If you want to block him, bet more like 7$. If you want to induce bluff, good job, you very may well have done it.

Now that you've seen how this play works, use it against him when you have a strong holding on the river .

LAG can't beat top pair or he'd bet the turn. He's more likely to raise a ridiculously weak bet than he is to bet if checked to.

if he was trying to induce a raise bluff, he should have just checked. the villian lag will bet a huge percentage of the time with nothing. if he was willing to call a raise, thats the line i would have taken. if he wasnt willing to call a raise, then throwing out a blocking bet is ok

I'm just asking here so that I can learn - but why not check-raise the flop? (a) It's cheaper now that it will be on the turn/river, (b) if he's bluffing, you win the pot right there possibly. He could be playting JTs or QJ here and your check-raise prices him out of the draw (though he'll likely fish). (c) if he re-raises, you fold.

What do you guys think about the C/R here? I think it defines his hand more clearly and allows me to play later streets more appropriately.

You don't really want him to fold if he's bluffing. A checkraise will get called by all better hands but not by many worse hands.
