Re: How do you treat people in low limit games with shades?
I watched this young kid with a hoody shades and haedphones drop 300 in about 2 hrs on a 2-4 table, every time he got up to get more money from the atm we were al scared, scared he wasnt coming back. This old farmer in overalls who didnt know that his trucker hat was now fashionable just kept stacking up the kids chips. I was just pissed because I never got any cards to take him down with. It was one of the best days I've had at the casino tho pure amusement. I wanted to tell him he was playing small stakes limit not not the WPT but I think the table would have killed me.

think about how dumb you must feel after a long losing night at a 2/4 table while you are wearing shades and giving the 'expert' staredowns.

Re: How do you treat people in low limit games with shades?
my first time at the borgota i sat across from a 50ish man with a baseball cap and dark sunglasses. everytime he was about to fold the river, which he saw alot of, he would stare his opponent down for like 2 minutes, like he was making a big laydown. it's so funny to see someone like that at 3/6.

Re: How do you treat people in low limit games with shades?
Doesn't Ed Miller say something about this in his book?
Something along the lines of: If you wear sunglasses people will think you are serious and the last thing you want to do is be involved in a serious game of poker. You want everyone to be happy and relaxed and playing dumb, not on guard or tight. From what I've seen at TS, ppl who wear sunglasses are weak tight (and yes, there is importance to this, if you dont agree then argue with Mike Caro)... What do I do if I sit with them? I take their god-damn chips |

I just take their money. Oh yeah , and checkraise them at every opportunity. And let them know you mean it.

Re: How do you treat people in low limit games with shades?
i was in a few vegas tourney's and a lady in also, told me that i should wear sunglasses. she said my eyes would light up everytime i got a good hand, well the tourney the next morning i wore my sunglasses(and i did feel a little silly) but i won it...so maybe it's a good idea for some. and i don't think the size of the stakes should matter. we all want to win, if it's 100.00 or a 1000.00.

Re: How do you treat people in low limit games with shades?
this happened at the mirage
some toolbox is sitting there in sunglasses and the dealer asked him jokingly "are those world series approved sunglasses?" the kid asks "what?" the dealer repeats: "are those world series of poker approved sunglasses?" the kid is unsure of himself... "ummm no they aren't" the dealer then says "well you'll have to take them off, you can only wear world series-approved sunglasses in the card room..." so the kid takes them off. the table is laughing at this point... the dealer says "i'm just joking, kid, wear them if you want" the kid feels so stupid he doesn't know whether to put them back on or leave them off he eventually just leaves mike |
