What if there are more players calling you down?
I've been in a lot of situations like this where there aren't really any draws, but I get 3-4 passive players calling me down. If I'm in position, I almost always take the free showdown. Is that weak? (Heads up I tend to bet, unless I'm against a solid player) But what to do if I'm first to act? I feel like betting into several players, even if it is a bunch of calling stations, is just a donation. Against 3 people you need to win more than 25% of the time to be profitable, right? Do you think you win that often, even in typical low limit games where people cold call preflop with A-rag? I suppose it depends on the game, but I just tend to get a little nervous when people call me on the turn with no obvious draw. It tells me that they've got a hand that they intend to show down. Thus, there is a smaller chance of a river bet inducing a better hand to fold. But I guess at the same time it means a better chance of a worse hand calling. I guess the answer is that it really depends on who is in the pot with you. Man this game is a head trip. Sorry for the rambling. |
