Re: Help with AK....
he would essentially have to put the UTG raiser on AA-QQ, AK to fold there. I've played w/ some players that fit that description, but even most of the players I would consider tight would still raise UTG w/ AQ, JJ, TT (plus the aforementioned hands, of course)
Against that range of hands, I think that flat calling in position is good. The original poster just said "tight". That may mean different things to different people. I wouldn't hate a muck in that spot, though. It may be giving up a little vs. most players, but there are benefits to survival at this stage w/ this stack. |

Re: Help with AK....
Welcome to tournament poker. Probably the biggest decisions you'll have to make will include this hand. I hate folding it, and there is no way I'm taking your line to put in 14K and fold to a re-raise. I would probably just call here because he has you covered. If he had fewer chips I would probably come over the top, but like the call with position.
THere is a very good chance you have the same hand, and you just gaved him 14K in chips. He doesn't want to see the flop out of position. |

Re: Help with AK....
Those are very tough reads to make online, but you were there and we were not. If he is so tight that the only hands he would raise up front are big pockets and AK, then a fold is in order. I hate throwing out 14K if you are prepared to fold to an all-in.

Re: Help with AK....
Yeah, for some reason I completely blanked out on his stack size. If an A flops and he has KK-JJ, as Soss says, I probably take either nothing (if he's weak/tight) or most of his chips on the turn.
But reraising sucks and a push is sure really really iffy so I'm still calling and seeing a flop. |

Re: Help with AK....
I see -
No, I definately did not think he would have AQ, btw. I just don't understand why he would move in w/ KK when a blank hits on the turn. I mean, he is either way ahead or badly beaten. What scare card could hit on the river? If he is wrong about the A, he is pretty much gone from the game. |
