My pathetic shaky hands
I have the least stable hands you have ever seen. When I'm in a big hand this fact becomes magnified a great deal. Pathetic, I know. Does anyone have any advice regarding some steps I could take to reduce this blatant tell?
"Chill out" or "relax" are some obvious tactics. But if anyone has overcome this same thing I would love to know specifically what you did. (I feel for that guy that Farha humiliated in this year's Main Event. I swear I'm not him ) |

Re: My pathetic shaky hands
this used to happen to me when i first started playing in BM casinos. Before you act or pick up chips take a deep breath, that usually worked for me. Not much, but it worked for me. Also, it gets better with experience...

Re: My pathetic shaky hands
Dan's advice is good. Experience is really the best way to overcome this, although if you really want something to help you right now, I'd say that you should stack your chips according to SBs and BBs so that you don't need to count them out as much when it's your turn to bet. This will reduce the actual amount of hand motions you need so you can mask your tell a little bit.
BTW, the guy who Farha humiliated, didn't he end up winning the hand? I mean, bad beat, I know, but I guess something could be said about the way Farha played it too, never made the guy pay to make a higher pair. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I believe the guy rivered a 7 to beat Sammy's pocket 4's. I think Sammy was trying to figure out what the tell meant (weak or strong), and wanted to keep the pot small...but what the hell do I know? The point was, the guy looked like a tool. |

drink alcohol [/ QUOTE ] I tried that one. The only problem is when I do that, raising with T8o UTG seems like a great idea. |

Re: My pathetic shaky hands
may be the college in me talking, but i do a shot or two before i go play live. just enough to make the night an experience as i play lower live than online.
not only does it help me calm down, but it helps with the task of being only able to play one table for 30 hands/hr. fim |

Re: My pathetic shaky hands
You could always keep your hands under the table and use your mouth, either physically picking your chips up and lobbing them in to the middle or by a verbal declaration.

Re: My pathetic shaky hands
This is a physiological reaction, and you may have little control over it. Fortunately, as you play more B&M this will eventually go away. Until then, hold your hands together on the table and move them rapidly to your stack, and back out to the table. Some may recognize this as a tell if you do it only when you hit, but the shaking is more noticeable. Most people slow down their movements to try to control the shake, which only makes it more noticeable.
