96s short stacked
I think that i made the right play here but i'd like other opinions:
4 handed hero sb w/ 19 chips matt bb w/ 50 chips rat utg w/ 100 chips brendan on button w/ 70 chips blinds 1/2 rat calls brendan calls hero calls matt raises 5 ratt and brendan call Hero pushes I think this is a pretty good play because i got the feeling that at least one if not both players would fold. Do my pot odds and my read justify this play? Any other comments? |

Re: 96s short stacked
I dont like it. I think youre pretty much guaranteed a caller if 3 players have already put in 7, someone has a hand that will call, especially since your shortstacked.
There is just no chance that that is the best hand, and you are almost sure to get a caller IMO |

Re: 96s short stacked
I think the most important thing is your feeling but that aside I don't like the call for several reasons (assuming a tourney - I actually don't mind the call in a ring NL game)...
1) A BB raise 2) Your low in chips and although close I think short stacked is about 7 BB's... you got about 5-6 hands to look for something better 3) Your only going to get called with hands that got you as a big underdog... most likely best hope is high card rag for something like a 53/47 coin flip... two overs has you down 3:2 so in my mind you'd need a pot size of 27+ 4) I just don't think 9-6s is that strong of a hand short handed better off with a high card 5) Again a BB raise - from the next shortest stack My 2¢ which I'd probably lose, Fins |

Re: 96s short stacked
actually i was sure that it was the worst hand but i was going on the fact that it would be a. Heads up or three handed and b. the pot odds were such that i was beating the range of probable hands that my opponents were holding. I agree with fins that the more important read was that we would be heads up or three handed with a leaning toward heads up. I'm surprised that on such a short stack it isn't worth it to take a shot to triple up. or maybe i'm wrong. we all have to learn lessons.
