Default tour europe on gambling

I was considering in the summer if I have time to tour europe. I thought it would be really cool if I could pay my entire trip by playing at casinos throughout europe. That way i not only get to tour europe, i get to visit card rooms around the world. well?

That would be fun, no doubt. However, poker is not that widespread outside of Paris, London and Vienna. Most other major cities have one casino with poker but game selection will be very limited. Also, you will be hard pushed to find limit hold'em anywhere outside of Austria and Germany. You would need to be good at a very wide variety of games (and able to learn new ones quickly) to make this viable, and there are pletn of places really worth visiting that have no poker at all (Italy, Portugal, southern Spain). Playing online in internet cafes might be a useful back-up.

Remember you would need a considerable bankroll/expenses fund to start with, as you could easily hit a bad run. Don;t rely on winning from the start; have plenty of reserves. I think a better idea would be to start with enough money to fund the whole trip anyway, as well as a substantial bankroll, and hope that you win your expenses back.

There have been some posts on this in the past, check them out. Also I think poster Erdnase did something similar, you could PM him for advice.

Good luck if you do it, sounds like a ball.

Can you find limit HE games at the Aviation Club? Besides PLO8, what else is common in Europe (by nation).

Someone recently mentioned here that the Aviation was indeed running a limit hold'em game, although I seem to remember it was for fairly serious stakes.

London: used to be pretty much PLO only (not PLO8) and dealer's choice (mainly PLO, PLHE, PL stud, and PL Irish Irish, with PLO being chosen the most). Lots of hold'em now apparently at the two London clubs.

Paris: From what I hear (I've only ever played live in London, and not much of that, so this is all hearsay): dealer's choice with mostly PLHE and various Fench games such as Courchevel which I understand are tweaked versions of PLO. Some straight PLO too.

Austria: Limit HE, limit stud, some big PLO games.

Germany: mostly limit hold'em I believe.

Spain: limit HE at the Barcelona Casino and NLHE in Madrid, last I heard (this info is very out of date).

Holland: limit HE and PLO at the one casiono that offers poker in Amsterdam.

That's all I know. Hopefully someone else will ave more up-to-date, borader info. Try posting on www.pokerineurope.com or www.thehendonmob.com for more info: mainly European players on both.

I can add some to that.

Cosmopol in Malmö, Sweden has both PLO, PL Dealers Choice with HE and Omaha and proberly 7 Stud. Buyin around $500 with $15 blinds. Also some FLHE on fridays and saturdays with blinds around $15/$30.

Casino Copenhagen in Copenhagen, Denmark has spread limit delaers choice with HE and Omaha. Limit is $15/$100 with a min $500 buyin.

Besides that there are a lot of private homegame type clubs around in Denmark.

oops, is supposed to be just Irish, not Irish Irish. Irish is basically Crazy Pineapple played pot limit. Played like hold'em, except you get three cards and get rid of one after the flop. Also played with 4 or more cards (but you always have 2 left after the flop).

Make sure you think about this. I was in both Paris and London this past summer and here are my comments.

I played about 18-20 hours in the two cities. In that time I saw exactly 0 limit holdem games. The only limit I saw the entire time was a 300-600 Euro O8 game at the Aviation club. Benyamine was sitting there with about 60K on the table.......
They play a LOT less holdem. I was only able to play dealers choice in Paris until the day before their week of tourneys for the Grand PRix de Paris started. Then they had a NL holdem game every night. The first night while playing at the Aviation club they started giving me a ribbing because I always called holdem on my deal. (No one else called it) When they did call it, the called it "Vegas".
There are way less bad players. Maybe I am spoiled being in Northern California, but the average player seemed a lot better than the norm. Unless you crush almost every game you play in, I would not count on winning enough to pay for your trip. You may well do so, but you cannot be nearly as sure as if you planned to pay for your trip across say California.......

Hey Gamblore.

Dont miss playing here: Aviation Club of France
The games they spread are right on the site. It's like being James Freakin Bond playing at the Av in Paris, then you can walk about a block and pig out at any one of a million fantastic restaurants. Not to be missed. I loved it.

Devilfish Uliot is there a lot. It's his home club.
