[/ QUOTE ] Ah, but this isn't even the whole picture, because students from ACT-land who take the SAT are more likely to be "good" students (because they are more likely to want to travel away for college to somewhere requiring the SAT). The converse is not true (schools in ACT-land are happy to take SAT-only students). I recall reading about this somewhere or another. Thus, the average SAT score for students in ACT states is actually inflated relative to SAT states. It's a kind-of "Restricted Choice Principle" for test taking. That said, it's all social science, so it's kind-of mush. Tasty mush, but nonetheless mush. |

Maybe I am not looking hard enough but I don't see a very strong correlation. Suppsosing there is one do you reckon this is the only reason for the correlation?
