Default Touche GWB

Good move on whoevers part to plan the Fallujah attack after the election when casualties are sure to rise.

This is starting to remind me a lot of what my mom said the Vietnam war was like. Every night there is new video footage of the war on the evening news, and these videos are rather intense. It looks like America is getting another helping of blood and guts with there dinner.

I realize that this is something that has to be done though, so I guess I am not really complaining though. I just hope our boys stay safe as well as the innocent civis in Fallujah.

The 2004 election is like the 1864 election, the enemy now knows we won't stop until the job is done and our soldiers know the same. Let's get it over with whatever it takes.

And Nixon waited until after an election to conduct the most intense bombing of Hanoi.

I wonder if peoples vote would have changed if they knew this was coming. You'll notice in the weeks building up to the election, it was all about finding a peaceful way to solve Fallujah, and then once the election is over, bam, nevermind.

BTW, I don't doubt the U.S. military tried to solve it peacefully either.

I think any clear thinking person would have thought we were holding off until after the election. I certainly expected an escalation after the election was over. Better to get it done now than to wait and get bogged down.

Did anyone not see an escalation coming?

I actually don't follow Iraq that closely, I just rely on our people to do what they think is right. Pausing for an election is pretty common.

I was just sort of stunned watching the local news last night and seeing video of our troops launcing shoulder mounted missles(stingers???) and shooting heavy machine guns, and big explosions. It is sort of shocking, and gave me the wrong kind of goose bumps. It looks like hell over there.

I think you're laboring under a misaprehension .... solving Falujah peacefully wasn't possible.

[/ QUOTE ] Perhaps, I don't know if I accept this as the 100% truth though.
