Omaha 8 difficult situation
Utg in a UB no limit Omaha8 .25-.50.
last hand of night so calling for fun QQ27 in a loose passive game no preflop raising. flop Qc 10s 2c Hero bets outs 3.5 feeler bet, alot of bad calls being made by some loose players Utg+1 calls, really loose player i have seen him lose calling all in with second set all night. utg+2 all in $25, hold up! i think, this guy is very tight and has been table poker coach all night, immediately put him on wrap straight and flush draw. everyone else folds Ok so i am thinking i have a bad coin flip here to win, not happy calling but will have both covered with about $50 dollars in front of me. so i am considering calling cryingly when maniac Utg+1 starts chatting "oh well time to gamble", i knew for sure he had trip 10s then so with out thinking i call and UTG calls. Needless to say turn is 7c river 6 of spades UTG+1 wins low with A5c10c10 UTG+2 wins high with KcJs9C4h What should i have done, i have no low draw in hindsight i cant even think of good turn and river for me, is this a easy fold even with maniac UTG+1 calling. I was really sure of my reads of there hands. |

Re: Omaha 8 difficult situation
Fold this pre-flop. The problem in a no-limit game is that playing 1 hand necause it's the "last hand of night" can take your entire stack away. Don't do it.

Re: Omaha 8 difficult situation
On the flop, vs. a big wrap you are not a coinflip, but instead a 42% favorite, or 1.3 to 1 dog. Depending on how many preflop limpers, you barely had odds so if UTG+1 had folded you would have been correct to call but only just. Once UTG+1 calls, if you assume he has a backdoor low draw, then you are again getting odds to call but only just barely. So run the scenario from the flop forward a million times and you’re probably close to even. Your worst decision was the preflop call, but then you knew that. Note that if UTG+1 can get you to fold, then he is a favorite over the bigwrap with his add’l low outs, so his play is good if you’ll fold ~30% of the time or more. And if your 2 was a 3 instead giving you a low draw then your EV goes up dramatically making you a favorite. --Greg Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 820 enumerated boards containing Ts Qc 2c cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV Js Kc 9c 4h 473 473 347 0 0 0 0 0.577 2s 7c Qd Qh 347 347 473 0 0 0 0 0.423 pokenum -o8 kc js 9c 4h - qd qh 2s 7c - as 5c tc td -- qc ts 2c Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 666 enumerated boards containing Ts Qc 2c cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV Js Kc 9c 4h 321 405 261 0 0 0 0 0.545 2s 7c Qd Qh 172 211 455 0 0 0 0 0.288 As Tc 5c Td 50 50 616 0 129 0 0 0.167 pokenum -o8 kc js 9c 4h - as 5c tc td -- qc ts 2c Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 820 enumerated boards containing Ts Qc 2c cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV Js Kc 9c 4h 336 435 385 0 0 0 0 0.470 As Tc 5c Td 385 385 435 0 144 0 0 0.530 Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 820 enumerated boards containing Ts Qc 2c cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV Js Kc 9c 4h 330 453 367 0 0 0 0 0.477 3s 7c Qd Qh 367 367 453 0 144 0 0 0.523 |

Re: Omaha 8 difficult situation
Thank you very much, what is that program you used to figure out thoses odds, i really need it. I think i should wait for better opportunities to put my money in, i really dont have the bankroll to grind small advantages.

[ QUOTE ]
What should i have done, i have no low draw in hindsight i cant even think of good turn and river for me. [/ QUOTE ] This is a freightening statement! If you do not know of a good turn and river then you should not be playing this game. You have several outs for a scooper - the other Q and the two remaining 2s on the turn. Normally you can figure three Ts as well. On the river, you can add 2 7s. The secret to this hand, as had been stated, is to fold pre-flop. |
