Re: NL Books
Books to get:
Poker in general: -Theory of poker (S&M) -Improve your poker (ciaffone) Small Stakes Play: -Small Stakes Holdem (Ed Miller) (Yes, this book DOES help with SSNL) No limit: -Pot Limit and No Limit Holdem (ciaffone) -No Limit Holdem (ciaffone, yet to be released) if you've yet to buy anything, buy them in this order: ToPoker PL&NLPoker SSHE IYPoker (when it comes out) NLHE proceed to beat SSNL, then midstakes, then highstakes games. win the WSOP. cut me 5%. fim |

Re: NL Books
I play NL only but all books I've read (except for Brunsons SS) are limit books. I just like you feel like reading atleast one NL book, though I really like reading limit books applying them to NL. When I read books that aren't custom made for my game my mind has to be alert every second I read. It forces me to have a critic view on every segment of the book asking myself "does this apply to NL as well as limit?). I'm afraid if I read a NL-book I'll just read without considering what I'm reading, learning just the words not considering how I should apply the information I read to the game. If I read something I'm not sure is applyable in NL I simply study the matter, using different sources. I feel this has worked well for me. Point being: don't worry to much that you've only read books that aren't custom made for you, you'll learn alot, maybe even more, from reading limit books. Does this make any sense?

Re: NL Books
Theory of poker - 8
Improve your poker - 5 Small Stakes Holdem (Ed Miller) - 4 Pot Limit and No Limit Holdem (ciaffone) - 5 No Limit Holdem (ciaffone, yet to be released) SS - 5 CNLPL - 7 New Player - 5 SS2 - 7 At the moment the 5 is still readable, but there are books coming that will drop them to under 5 (= forget it). |

Re: NL Books
'Pot and no limit poker' and 'improve your poker' are currently the 2 best books to read for no limit, along with supersystem. The 2 Ciaffone books are the best place to start for no limit beginners/intermediates and will help to better understand supersystem when you read that.
Add these books when they come out: volume 1 of Harringtons tourney book, as that book will also apply to cash games. Ciaffones new no limit holdem book Fossilmans tourney book, as that will also have a lot of stuff applicable to cash games. I heard rumours a while ago that a poker math book was being written by Jerrod Ankenman and Bill Chen so also get that if it ever comes out. |
