Tournaments
I have been playing for about 3 years, In the last year I have started playin a lot of no limit tournaments, mostly on the internet and a weekly game with about 8-10 people.
In the larger tournaments (over 100 people)I am having trouble making it in the money. I consistantly last until right before the money or just in the money, never in the top 5. It is driving me crazy, By the time it gets down to a couple of tables, my chip count is just not high enough to stay in......I need some advice! Thanks for any help. |

Re: Tournaments
I would guess from what you wrote that you are playing a little too tight which allows you to survive late in the tourney but leaves you always short stacked. You need to be more aggressive in accumulating chips or taking good EV risks before you get short stacked. It's better to win one tourney than finishing 9th 5 times.
How do you usually lose at the end the tourney, big hand in which you raise and someone calls because you only have a small amount of chips or all in on the blinds? |

Re: Tournaments
I usually get knocked out by having so few chips that I am forced to go in with bad hands.
Is there a way to actually become more aggresive, or is it your nature? I just can't stand to push a lot of chips in the middle when I am not confident (even though, I know a lot of times I probably have the better hand!) Can aggression be learned??? |

Re: Tournaments
Start stealing more. It's fun. Aggression can be learned. Steal from non-obvious stealing position and in non-standard situations. Don't steal with a whiffed AK on a ragged flop. Steal with an underpair on a AKT flop. Resteal a late position open raise when you have junk in the SB. Stuff like that. Also, value bet the river. People like to call.
