Re: Bottom pair on a 5-handed flop and I... check-raise?
The flop checked around and the button bet, which leads me to think that a) your 7s may actually be good, or b) your raise may fold a 9 or even a weak A (though probably not at 2/4). I don't think 2/4 players even notice that it was a c/r, so I wouldn't expect much respect for that.
All in all, I muck this to the button's bet. Pot's not big enough to care (and if it was big enough, I've got a sh*t hand). |

Re: Bottom pair on a 5-handed flop and I... check-raise?
As is usually the case, you have 3 options and calling is the worst. Why would you call here rather than raise? You're obviously not slow playing and although you have a draw, it's a pretty weak one. By calling, all you do is give the other three oppenents with big cards correct pot odds to call behind you, and that is not something you want.
Raising seems ok too, but I don't like if for a couple reasons. Remember, this is low-stakes Party Poker. Most people with a weak ace will call your raise cold as will many of them with a 9 or some other pocket pair. If there were fewer people in the pot it wouldn't seem weird for the button to bet, but there are 4 people he needs to bluff out. for one small bet. He might be terrible as well, but if he's decent at all, he wouldn't bet at this pot on a bluff. I'd go with folding on this one. Either the button has you beat or somebody else does and they will call you. The pot is small, so just let it go. |

Yeah, but when the 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] falls on the next card, and you bet out, and are called, what then? There are many situations where I've used this play, but this one doesn't seem to be one of them. I'm new to SS, though, so take that FWIW. Rob [/ QUOTE ] I've only got 2300 hands at 2/4. If I was cold-called in any place, I was only betting out if I improved to 2 pair or trips. If I spike I diamond, I'll check-call. If nothing, I'll check-fold. If I'm not cold called in any place, I think I've got the best hand and I'll bet until the river. I improved on the turn, so I guess the hand really played itself afterwards. I was way ahead the whole time. Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (10 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is SB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
