Re: 80 Hand vs. Teri
If I check-raise the river and call a 3-bet, I lose. Put yourself in Teri's shoes. After that action, would you 3-bet worse than AQ on the river?

Re: 80 Hand vs. Teri
The advantage of betting the river though is that it may induce her to take a stab at the pot by raising with TT, 88, etc.
You think she doesn't know this: ...I will call 100 percent of the time |

Re: 80 Hand vs. Teri
Yep. I'm trying to see the argument for betting. Bettors please elaborate.

Re: 80 Hand vs. Teri
She said she thought she made a mistake betting the river in Mason's hand. If this is true, she would be less likely to bet a hand, that she thought might win in a show-down, but wouldn't beat a strong Ace, because she is now last to act.

Re: 80 Hand vs. Teri
"Anyone play this differently?"
I would have played it exactly as you did on the flop and turn against all the regulars around here. Against most of them, I would checkcall the river. But against a few, I would checkfold the river because my turn call would scream AQ minimum and if they follow through on the river, it ain't KK or AJ. Tommy |

Re: 80 Hand vs. Teri
Mike, you of all people should know that you can't get the context of how someone plays by reading one post about them i.e. the check-raise w/ QT hand. Teri is a very tough opponent and there is no way your river check-raise is getting called by a worse hand. She will bet many hands for values here, but she will not call your river check-raise w/ AJ, AT, etc. Just my .02. Of course, I only have about 20 hours of play w/ her and she thinks I'm a total rock, so there is absolutely no chance she pays me off... I don't know what your image was mks, but she's very observant.

Re: 80 Hand vs. Teri
Hi Tommy:
What if you have an ace but with a smaller kicker than an queen. Are you saying that you would have folded this as well? Best wishes, Mason |

[/ QUOTE ] Against a solid Tight passive player I would agree, but against a tricky tight aggressive player I think a check-raise on the river is +EV here. I would do it. |

Re: 80 Hand vs. Teri
Why do people insist on assuming she plays bad?
Against a good tough player, a checkraise would be very wrong here. If you are ahead, you probably win 0 (she would check behind) and if you are behind, you would probably lose 3. |

Re: 80 Hand vs. Teri
[ QUOTE ]
If I remember correctly, HPFAP says you have to have the best hand 55% percent of the time if you bet the river. Since you would have to call any raise or re-raise I think the concept applies here. [/ QUOTE ] That's only true if you are last to act. If you are first to act you should bet even if you're a 45% underdog, because betting will make you less of a dog. |
