I am interested in reading some new poker manuals, but am not sure where to start. I've read a couple already including "Winning Low Limit Hold 'Em" (Jones), "Championship No Limit and Pot Limit Hold 'Em" (McEvoy), and "Super System."
I've never read any of Sklansky's books, and after lurking on this site for awhile, would like to start. But, I'm not sure where to begin. By way of background, I play almost exclusively hold 'em: microlimit, low buy in SNG's and low buy in MTT's. I have done fairly well, but want to take my game to the next level. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

For limit, you're ready for "Small Stakes Hold'em" by Miller, Malmuth, and Sklansky. Great book.
For general poker concepts, you should read Sklansky's "Theory of Poker" as well. For NL, maybe Ciaffone's "Pot Limit and No Limit Poker" or Doyle Brunson's "Super System." Despite having read these, NL is still mysterious to me. There will some new books coming out on this topic in the next few months, including books by Harrington, Brunson et. al. (Super System II), and Ciaffone. I'm hoping one or more of these will be helpful. |
