Default psychology of UB miniview

I recently started using UB's miniview, and I find that I am playing worse. I'm having more trouble telling opponents apart and getting reads on them. I think this is because I tend to associate each player with a particular point in space, and the smaller real estate (and the fact that they are all at the same position vertically) makes it harder for me to distinguish between them and remember how they played previous hands. It's also harder for me to tell them apart because the miniview isn't able to display the longer names completely.

Has anyone else noticed this? If so, how long did it take to overcome it?

I just played on UB for the first time yesterday, and I knew the second I opened the miniview that it wasn't for me.

I definitely use the position of an opponent as a memory trigger, and I can't do this with the miniview.

this is why mini-views should be round tables, not a rectangular box.

UB's client really needs some sort of visual cue for people that you have notes on. It is really tedious to right-click on each person and hit Notes every time you sit down at a table.

I had no problems, even though I am normally a spatially oriented person.

I think the prima miniview is the best one yet, and I certainly hope more sites use something similar.

Agreed, and mouse over notes would be great, too.

One thing I loved about UB: Kill games.

Playing the kill .5/1, I had quad nines, followed by a set of 6s that held up.

In the kill hand, I was dealt AA in the SB.

A couple months ago I e-mailed UB support suggesting this very idea. Maybe more of us should do the same to get the ball rolling.
