So after years of playing on a coffee table, I think I am ready for a little upgrade and am thinking of getting the folding octogonal poker table top:
![]() I found it here for $58 including shipping... What do you guys think? Is that a good idea? |

I went through and got mine for the same reason, yes it is nice to be able to fit 8 pple around a square table using it. I do have a problem with the quality of the felt. After approx 10 games of serious hold'em it is clear to see that the felt is not top quality.
It is covered in little green "fuzzies", other than that it is a good table. |

You can get a very similar top at WalGreens or Target or Wal Mart for $35 with no shipping.

A friend of mine has this same table top. It's definitely worth the price. It's a few months old now and no problems. We always mess with whoever sits down at the blackjack dealers spot -- can I split my aces?

Have you seen the somewhat oval, longer folding tables? If you have a table that it fits, you might like that better.
Another solution that works for me, with a large dining room table- buy a good poker felt, get some foam padding roll, and 1" office folder C-clamps (black metal ones). You can clamp the felt/padding to the table, get a nice padded surface and a felt that won't fuzz after a few games. |

I got one of these; they are great value - it really adds a lot to the home game atmosphere to have the felt. Also, you don't need to have the blackjack stuff on top - the chip trays can be taken out and the top reversed to plain felt on the other side.

I use the oval (79" I think) hold'em style table tops. Can fit 10 players snugly or 9 comfortably. FWIW.
Decided on the table tops as a stop gap until I can build my own table. Edit: I bought two cheapy "banquet tables" at staples for use with the table tops. These tables will be the base for the tables I build. Also, I don't like the chip trays in those table tops. They get in the way, IMO. |

Well thanks everyone, I think I'll go for it. The octogonal model is fine for us, and we play on a low coffee table anyway, so it should be real fun.
Thanks! |
