Default Short stacked w/AQo

Live tourney, $20 buy-in, re-buy, add-on. 33 entrants. We are down to the final 8. Blinds are 1000/2500. 1 big stack, 4 average stacks, and 3 of us are short.

Top 4 places get paid.

I post small blind of 1000 leaving me with 2900 (roughly 1/4 of my chips are already in.

Both short stacks call all-in for less than the big blind, say around 1500 and 1900.

I pick up AQoff and move in. Big Blind calls for 1400 more.

My thinking was that if I didn't push here, I would be forced to on my next big blind, 4 or 5 hands later. Plus I thought there was a chance I could get the big blind to muck, and if not I would only be competing with her for the small 4000 side pot.

Push here or hope to get a better hand?

Push here with a lot less than AQ.

So nobody thinks it would be wise to fold this one and hope that 3 others bust out before the big blind hits me?

I don't know the payout structure here, but the big money is generally in teh top places, so you usually want to play to win rather than fold a couple of places higher.

I think you have a better shot at the money (and at the top places) if you push here. Given the situation, you have a monster.

Absolutely, positively, without a hint of a doubt, push.

I think 1st was around $750, 2nd $350, 3rd $250, 4th was $150. With one rebuy, and one add-on, I was in for $60, so I would have been more than happy with 4th place money.

BTW, this was at Catfish Bend Riverboat Casino in Burlington Iowa. Every Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The competition is very soft.
