Default doubling blinds when blinds are high

Hi,

Is it ever correct to just double the blinds with a raise? Everyone talks about the 3x-6x raise when raising but I see a lot of tournies where when the blinds are large in relation to the stack size, the raise changes to 2x. Is this correct? For example 9handed table with blinds at 500-1000 and average stack is at 5000 for the table.

Thanks
Jeff

Be more specific...what hands are you thinking about making such a small raise with? And do you want a call from the BB(or someone else) or are you hoping for a fold?

Answer these questions and it'll be a lot easier to answer your question.
