I have to pick my son up from basketball practice at 7:30 (west coast time), right in the middle of the game.

Sounds like you missed Bernie's home run.

I'm not superstitious or anything, but it's obviously good luck for you to be in the car. Please do a few laps around the block.

If you put a whole lot of money on the game, it might help calm your nerves.

Ah, but which way should you bet? The upcoming American election means a lot to me. I'm thinking of betting a substantial fraction of my gambling bankroll on Bush, not because I think the line is off (maybe it is), but just to hedge. I'll have something to be happy about either way.

I did miss Bernie's home run. It was 4-0 when I left, 4-1 when I got back.

I was kind of relaxed when it was 4-0. I got nervous again when Jeter singled to make it 4-2 with A-Rod and Sheffield coming up.

One more night of agony, followed by either relief, or a winter of discontent.

I made it a single. And it was Harvey's Bristol Creme. Getting old sucks.

Amen. It is ridiculous and fantastic at the same time.

I watched the 2003 LCS and thought it was one the best series from beginning to end that I had ever seen. Even though it was exciting baseball, I and New England were depressed for days, almost physically ill. Now that is ridiculous!!! One team can affect the life of an entire region.

As a lifelong Red Sox fan (I'm 37), I followed with joy and mostly heartache through the last 30 years. When they play well, the days are brighter and when they slump the days are long and bleak. But I wouldn't change any of it. I can't describe the pleasure it brings and the resultant heartache. Some people can be moved by music or poetry, I (and I think you too) happened to be moved by your local nine and the beauty, excitement, pleasure and disappointment they and the game bring. What fun would it be if you didn't have passion? They don't have to win it all or never win to stir those emotions.

I have a feeling that Big Stein is going to ruin this team regardless of the outcome, so you can expect the winter to be pretty ugly.

Default Pity party, try being an Indians or Cubs fan

When the Indians lost to Marlins, with an error with 2 outs botton nine game seven(tied, lost in 11), I did not sleep for 2 nights.

I have a REAL hard time having sympothy for a Yankees fan!!!!

So yea, look at all the Wseries wins, sorry, but you ARE being ridiculous...but I kinda understand

As it turns out, my worst nightmares were realized. The choke to end all chokes which will stand for all time.

No wonder I was so worried.
